Mercedes has a number of hybrid vehicles coming out by 2010, and one of the first will probably be the 2009 Mercedes Benz S400 hybrid vehicle.
While the S400 hybrid will technically be a mild hybrid, it is a pretty sophisticated mild hybrid. Most interesting, the 275 hp V-6 hybrid vehicle will utilize lithium batteries, rather than NiMH batteries.
Sure, S400 hybrid won't be able to function on pure electric power, but it will still use regenerative braking, and it can shut on and off when it is stationary.
Offering almost 30 mpg, this S-Class Mercedes hybrid is expected to achieve 0 to 60 in about 7 seconds.
Mercedes is also exploring the use of ultracapacitors in its hybrid vehicles, but it has not been stated whether the Mercedes Benz S400 hybrid will utilize this technology.
